During Women’s History Month, Bank Street Centre in downtown Summit is highlighting one of its long-time tenants, Summit Place Financial Advisors, a woman-led wealth advisory firm founded by nationally recognized financial strategist Liz Miller, CFP®, CFA®.
For more than fifteen years, Miller has led Summit Place Financial Advisors with a vision of simplifying the complex financial lives of families by coordinating investment, tax, and estate planning strategies into a unified wealth plan.
“In 2008, I decided to launch a firm that could simplify the financial life of clients by managing and coordinating all their diverse and complex wealth needs,” said Miller.
Most recently, Miller served as 2025 Chair of the CFP Board, the national organization responsible for granting the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation, one of the most respected credentials in the financial advisory profession. In that role, she helped guide the profession through a comprehensive review of certification standards to ensure CFP® professionals are prepared to deliver holistic financial planning while serving clients as full fiduciaries.
Miller’s leadership extends across the broader financial industry. She previously led the first Private Wealth Management Committee at the CFA Society of New York, helping to define the emerging discipline of integrated wealth management. She later served on the organization’s Board of Directors and contributed to the development of the wealth management curriculum for CFA candidates through the CFA Institute Wealth Management Task Force.
Throughout her career, Miller has championed bringing more women into the financial services industry and mentoring young professionals to success. She has built her firm by welcoming and supporting other talented female advisors including Managing Director, Assunta McLane, CPF® and Katherine Feeney, CFP®, CFA
Miller’s career spans more than three decades in the financial markets, including roles in mergers and acquisitions and proprietary trading at The First Boston Corporation, portfolio management at Oppenheimer Mutual Funds, and leadership as a principal owner of the New York investment manager Trevor Stewart Burton & Jacobsen Inc.
In addition to advising families, Miller is also the author of the book “Clutter-Free Wealth: A Goal-Oriented Guide to Gaining Control of Your Affluence.” The book reflects Summit Place Financials’ philosophy that wealth planning should begin with a client’s goals and life priorities rather than financial products.
Through this approach, Summit Place Financial Advisors works closely with clients and their families to simplify complex financial decisions and build long-term strategies designed to support security, opportunity, and legacy.
Miller holds a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. from Columbia University. She remains active in professional and civic organizations including the Financial Planning Association, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, CFA Society, and the Women Presidents Organization.
Summit Place Financial Advisors has operated from Bank Street Centre in downtown Summit for the past nine years, serving individuals and families across the region with comprehensive wealth management services.
